An exercise that answers back

What a fixed path costs you
Nothing the crew decides changes anything. The deck advances, the situation develops as written, and the decision they just spent twenty minutes on has no consequence.
So participants play the meeting, not the crisis. They work out within ten minutes that the script is safe, say the reasonable-sounding thing, and wait for the next slide.
And discussion is not performance. What people say they would do in a conference room is a poor predictor of what they do with the clock running and the information bad.

An exercise that responds
See decisions as they arrive. Monitor what the crew is deciding while the exercise is still running, not afterwards.
Challenges built on what they chose. AI proposes instant challenges from the crew's decisions and actions — the complication that follows from this decision, rather than the one a script expected.
You choose what gets released, and when. Nothing reaches the crew because a system decided it should. The proposal is instant; the call is yours.
Injects that require a real response. Ask for priorities, concerns, a decision, or feedback you define, so the exercise collects what people would do instead of what they would say.
Your own tools in the loop. Design injects that prompt the crew to use and evaluate the response technology, processes and communication channels they would really be reaching for.
What that changes
The crew stops performing, because the situation is reacting to them. And you find out what happens when the decision they were most confident about turns out to be the wrong one — which is the thing you wanted to know.
